PGM Sources of Strength kicked off the year with a campaign to Get the Word Out. Every student was given a glow-in-the-dark duck in one of the colors of the SOS Strength Wheel. The ducks are a reminder that the Grove we all "flock together" and we shine for each other. #SourcesOfStrength #BetterTogether

Dr. Sherman's students have been exploring potential energy, kinetic energy, and simple machines through hands-on activities. They constructed rubber band-powered cars, learning about energy transformations and the principles of forces, motion, and engineering design. 🚘

The 8th and 6th grade art classes learned color theory by mixing and sorting punch. 🎨 #ArtAtTheGrove #ColorTheory

Students in Mr. Canelón's life science class have been researching cellular structures and cellular organelle functions. Students were challenged to choose a project to demonstrate understanding of these topics. They chose to create a virtual model of a cell and provide a virtual tour of their cell and all of its organelles and functions. #STEM #ThreeCs

On Friday we celebrated our staff members of the month for August!! Each was surprised by our admin team with a Viking helmet and cape to celebrate their victories in the areas of Operations (Ms. Blair Williams), Curriculum & Instruction (Mrs. Jennifer Dunn), Educational Technology (Mr. Matt Deal) and Student Services (Coach Jared Strackbein). We are thankful for these awesome educators! ❤️🍏#OneLowndes #TheGrove

Mrs. Taylor’s Enhanced Lit classes created posters on common archetypes found across various texts and participated in a gallery walk to review and learn from the work of their peers. 😊📖

8th grade physical science students participated in a lab that demonstrated energy transformations. They pulled the elastic end of a popper to show potential elastic energy and then let go of the end to show energy transformed to kinetic energy. 💡#STEM

Congratulations to our A and B volleyball teams on their wins over Valdosta yesterday! 🏐

As part of their study of environmental issues across the Middle East, Mrs. Kiefhaber’s social studies students conducted an experiment to desalinate water, used Galileo to research water-related conflicts, and shared their findings in infographics where they linked sources from their research! #CrossCurricularLearning #STEM #ThreeCs 💦🌍💻

🌍✨ When learning is hands-on (and tasty), the results are unforgettable! Our 6th graders explored the 3 types of tectonic plate boundaries through a sweet science lab. #STEMPower #LoveLearning

Our school library is a busy place! Within the last two weeks, every ELA class in the building has come for media center orientation, where students explored reading-related apps like Destiny, Sora, and Beanstack and checked out books of their choice. 📖💻❤️

Save the date! Picture day is Thursday, September 4. 📸

Mrs. Soldani's 7th graders analyzed different sections of a short story for narrative techniques and explored how those techniques helped develop themes. Groups then worked together to determine the overall theme of the story and track its development. 🧠✏️ #Teamwork

Mrs. Justice's students analyzed an article about memes then did a writing task over how authors use expository techniques to build meaning. 📱✏️ #PGMwrites

Mrs. Hampton’s class learned about perfect squares with Cheez-its! Yum!

Young scientists at work! Mrs. Martin’s students practiced their microscope skills by observing different types of cells. 🔬🧫 #STEM

6th grade social studies students worked in groups to sort through examples of conflict, change, or both! 🌎
