Mrs. Soldani's and Ms. Roberts' 7th grade ELA classes teamed up for an EXTREME Spicy Challenge! Students braved Flamin' Hot Cheetos and Takis Fuego (watery eyes and all 😅🥵), and then we turned up the heat on our reading!
Students read "The Science (and Fun!) Behind Spicy Food" and annotated the passage to find out what was REALLY happening in their mouths. (Spoiler: nothing is actually burning. It's capsaicin tricking your brain! 🧠)
They hunted for facts, statistics, text features, expert evidence, and cause and effect, then explained how each one helps readers understand the science. Great teamwork, great thinking, and a LOT of fun!

We were beyond thrilled to welcome our Georgia Teacher of the Year, Charm Ellis Mapp, to PGM recently! Despite her incredibly packed statewide schedule, Charm has made it a priority to visit the schools of each of her fellow GaTOTY finalists, and today was our turn. Ms. Kenny, Mrs. Carswell, and our leadership team were excited to show her around our school and let her experience firsthand what makes Lowndes County Schools and its people so special!
Our military-connected students gave her a wonderfully warm welcome upon arrival, and we were especially honored to have Vallye Blanton—Lowndes County Schools’ 1994 Georgia Teacher of the Year—here to meet her as well!

7th grade math students competed in a 40 yard dash to help them understand the concepts of proportionality, unit rate, and slope! Students then chose 2 runners to graph and help them determine who was faster. After they created their graphs, they summarized and reflected on the activity. 👟📈 #STEM
