Congratulations to Gavin Draper for being selected to perform in the GMEA District 8 Jazz Honor Band for the second year in the row!
Every year, high school students around Southeast Georgia audition for a spot in the District Jazz Honor Band. The auditions are judged and the best jazz musicians from our region are selected. Those students will get together at VSU in April, rehearse for two days, and will perform a concert with some great Jazz music! Gavin will be playing piano in this ensemble. #OneLowndes #BetterTogether

Lowndes High School Special Olympic athletes were presented with their hard-earned letterman jackets in a special ceremony yesterday led by their teachers, coaches, and fellow Viking athletes. These students represent LHS with sportsmanship, determination, and Viking pride, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments. Congratulations, athletes! #OneLowndes #BetterTogether

Students in Mrs. Aldridge’s Economics & Personal Finance classes have been learning the importance of borrowing and investing, as well as making well informed financial decisions. Yesterday, each class played Credit Land and learned about what behaviors positively and negatively impact credit scores, as well as how credit scores in turn impact interest rates on everyday loans. #OneLowndes #BetterTogether

🎄 The Vikings Are Decking the Halls! 🎄
Our Vikings got a head start on Christmas decorating, and the results ate magical! 🌟 When we return from Thanksgiving break, it’ll be time for Shop with a Viking!
Our amazing clubs have worked hard to put together some beautiful trees, and we can’t wait for our little Vikings to see them. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Stay tuned for more holiday cheer! 🎅✨

Mrs. Yancey’s Drawing 1 class is working hard on their graphite portraits. Students chose someone important or influential to them that they know personally, or they could have chosen to draw themselves. We’re so excited to see the finished pieces! Great things are happening in our art department everyday! #BetterTogether #OneLowndes

🎉 LHS Seniors Take on The Game of Life! 🎉
Last Friday, November 8, Lowndes High School seniors got a taste of real-world adulting through The Game of Life Reality Game!
Students stepped into the shoes of working adults, managing an assigned occupation and salary while making smart financial decisions about housing, transportation, insurance, and more. Chance cards added an exciting twist, offering surprises—good or bad—along the way! 🚗💰🏠
To keep it realistic, students had to obey the law or risk being “pulled over” by our awesome SRO officers. 🚨
A huge THANK YOU to our Economics teachers for organizing this fantastic event, the teachers who gave up their planning periods, the central office staff who volunteered their time, and the many businesses who gave of their time to work a booth.
Thank you all for helping make this day unforgettable for our seniors! 💼👏

Congratulations to DECA! @OneLowndes #BetterTogether

Culinary arts students have been making tortas. Looks like the finished products met approval! @OneLowndes #BetterTogether

This past weekend, LHS Junior Anita Bandhakavi performed in the Honors Performance Series' Honors Concert Choir at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Anita will not ever forget this experience!

Students draw with hot wax which will resist the dye and create a design in white lines. These students painted with fabric dye according to their color schemes to design their beautiful cloths! @onelowndes #BetterTogether

There is still time to enter! The Turner Center for the Arts and the Young Writers League (YoWL) are seeking fiction, non-fiction, and poetry entries for the 5th Annual “Art of Writing” contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each category at both the middle and high school levels, resulting in $2,500 in awards to youth. The entry deadline is Sat., Jan. 11, 2025.
