There have been many individuals at Lowndes High School who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene. In order to help those affected, the Class of 2025 would like your help. We are asking that you bring an individually wrapped snack. This would be an item that you would like to eat. For example, Little Debbie’s, Gold Fish, Chips, Granola Bars, Crackers just to name a few. You can also earn 1 community service hour for every 24 snacks that you donate for a maximum of 4 hours. We will be collecting through the month of October. You can drop off your snacks to Mrs. Steel, Mrs. Croft, Mrs. Hatton or Mrs. Inman. #BetterTogether

Ms. Mitchell's American Literature classes at LHS discussed how often amazing art is inspired by challenges, and beauty comes from darkness. They composed poetic reflections of their Hurricane Helene memories to document this chapter in their personal history. #BetterTogether

Students,
The past few days have undeniably been stressful as many have experienced and are still without access to power, internet, and running water. We understand it is hard to ask for help, but we have several resources within our school community to help during this difficult time.
Please complete the following form to help us best address student needs at Lowndes High School as a result of Hurricane Helene.
Please do not hesitate to contact your assigned LHS counselor for any assistance or resources needed! We will all get through this together! #OneLowndes #BetterTogether

Lowndes County Schools volunteers of all ages served 4,500 hamburgers and hotdogs along with chips and water Tuesday at Lowndes High School!
Thanks to Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. for connecting us with TapSwipe of Eatonton, GA who donated the supplies and ran the grill team. We are forever grateful for our new friends from TapSwipe and how our community, as well as those from afar, come together to serve one another.

The Life Skills classes gifted the Media Center with a collage art piece inspired by their current read, To Kill a Mockingbird. The pages were taken from used and battered copies of the book.

Lacey is delivering the Flower of the Month arrangement. The LHS Advanced Floral Design students have started “Valhalla Blooms,” and each themed arrangement is designed and arranged by LHS Floral Design students. This program gives the students career related experience.

Our year-long Algebra students and teachers combined classes today to revisit their Unit 1 material! 🎉 Students either jumped into remediation for topics they still needed to master or took on an exciting accelerated challenge—and WOW, did they rise to the occasion! 💪 We are beyond proud of the hard work and enthusiasm we saw today. Excellence all around!
A HUGE shoutout to our incredible community partners, Chick-fil-A on St. Augustine Road and Texas Roadhouse, for generously donating gift certificates as prizes. The students were pumped to receive them! 🙌👏 #StrivingForExcellence #StudentRockstars #CommunitySupport @onelowndes

Today, students in Ms. Gray's printmaking course took a tour of Arrow Screen Printing, a local screen printing business here in Valdosta. They explored screen printing as a career in the art field and were able to witness all of the different aspects of running a screen printing business.
First, students got to see how a t-shirt order is started between a customer and Arrow. Then, students got to meet the amazing artists behind the t-shirt designs and how they are able to take customers' ideas and make them a reality. After that, students saw the printing process in action, all the way from exposing screens with light sensitive emulsion to watching printers load automated printing machines and also manually printing shirts, which is done by hand! We even got to see finished shirts stacked and prepared for customers!
These aspiring artists had so much fun learning about this important field of art. Thank you Arrow Screen Printing for sharing such an awesome experience with our Lowndes High kids! #OneLowndes #BetterTogether

Mrs. Yancey’s Drawing 1 class has been tackling Charcoal using a self-created still life as their subject! This is an incredibly difficult (and messy!) medium but the students have done so well! First they set up their still-life using objects in the classroom, then they took their own pictures, created thumbnail sketches and enlarged their sketch to twice its original size. Their final work was 16x20 and the students are rocking it! Mrs. Yancey is so proud of the these artists!

FCCLA Officers attended the State Lead officer training in Fort Valley at Camp John Hope. Rachael Adair is serving as a region officer for this school year. One of her duties requires her to create and facilitate workshops for fellow students. We are so proud of Rachael for doing such a great job at presenting her workshop with her fellow region 8 officers.
Also pictured are Makenzi Yates, Nia Brown, and Rachel Huynh with current FCCLA State President Jhirris Smith from Apalachee High School. #OneLowndes #BetterTogether
