Welcome to the Pine Grove Middle School Band Program, one of the most exciting and rewarding educational opportunities offered by our school. It is an honor and privilege to be a member of the PGM Band Program. As a member of the PGM Band you should take pride in our accomplishments and always strive for excellence.

Mrs. Emily Griffin 

Emily Griffin is the band director at Pine Grove Middle School in Valdosta. She has taught middle school band for the past 11 years. Previously, Mrs. Griffin taught one year at North Whitfield Middle School in Dalton, Georgia, two years at Willie J. Williams Middle School in Colquitt County, Georgia, and eight years at DuQuoin Middle School in DuQuoin, Illinois. 


Emily graduated from Southern Illinois University in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. In 2016, she received her Master's degree in Music Education from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. Her time as an undergraduate was spent performing in many ensembles including marching band, concert band, wind ensemble, clarinet choir, and concert choir. As an undergraduate assistant for both band and orchestra, Emily helped organize and run the Southern Illinois Summer Music Festival and the Southern Illinois Heartland Honor Band. While a member of the Southern Illinois Wind Ensemble the group was invited to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City.  


Mrs. Griffin’s performing ensembles consistently receive high ratings and comments at contests and festivals. In 2017, she was invited and honored to be asked to conduct the Southern Illinois University High School Band Camp week.


Emily currently resides in Moultrie, Georgia with her wonderful husband Zack and stepson Graham. In her free time Emily enjoys running, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
